Prairie Dog Program

RMAD’s prairie dog program aims to stop the killing of prairie dogs and the destruction of their homes. This program focuses on the black-tailed prairie dog in suburban Colorado, and strives to serve as a model for prairie dog advocacy efforts elsewhere. Largely through the efforts of its volunteers, this program raises public awareness about prairie dogs; mobilizes and supports efforts to track, protect, and preserve colonies; plays an active role in the Prairie Dog Coalition; and occasionally plays a leadership role in helping individual colonies facing crises.
