What better way to prepare for summer fitness than by learning the ins and outs of a balanced and tasty vegetarian diet? On Friday, June 13, local nutritionist and exercise physiologist Ryan Andrews will present “The Health Benefits of A Plant-Based Diet,” which will discuss how moving toward a plant based diet will improve your health, reduce your susceptibility to chronic disease and help you lose weight. The talk takes place at 3030 O’Neal Parkway in Boulder at 7:15 p.m. $10 suggested donation, no one turned away. More info at 303-444-6981, extension #2. Bring friends and family—especially non veg ones.

Ryan Andrews also answers your questions about diet, health, fitness and much more at “Ask Ryan!” We’ve got a couple dozen great questions and their answers up there already, so check out Ryan’s responses and be sure to submit your questions to mailto:vegcolorado@rmad.org.

Lastly, RMAD is in need of storage bins (with tops) to house our numerous files, books and more. If you have some you can donated, please contact me.

Thanks for reading, and have a great week.

Volunteer Opportunities

THINK GLOBAL Humane Education Speakers: RMAD's THINK GLOBAL Humane Education Program is a network of volunteers who deliver talks to school groups, social clubs, churches and other organizations. Potential speakers will be provided with training (to be offered in both Denver and Boulder). More information and a volunteer form here.

Letter writers: We’ve assembled a team of letter writers to address issues in the local (Colorado) media. As needs arise, we will send out a form e-mail that includes the pertinent media, names and addresses, tips, background information, etc.—making it as easy as possible for you to lend your voice on behalf of animals.

Vegetarian outreach: Help distribute RMAD’s 32-page, full-color guide to vegetarian living in Colorado, Compassionate Living. If interested, please e-mail volunteer@rmad.org.

Check out RMAD’s online volunteer form and let us know about yourself and where your interests lie.
