January 4 , 2007

Dear Friends:

2008 is going to be a good year. A BIG year for Colorado animals and animal advocates. And RMAD is proud to be taking part in it.

RMAD’s legal squad, led by attorney Karen Breslin, is still working hard on the Greenwood Village coyote trapping issue from 2007. Karen has been in talks with the parties on the opposite side of the table, and while things look promising, we’re ready to do battle if need be. Updates will come as the situation develops.

Our new Ask Ryan! column is going great. Ryan’s answers are honest, funny and helpful. Be sure to check it out and submit your health, fitness and nutrition questions to VegColorado@RMAD.org and Ryan will get them answered for you.

To un-celebrate the presence of the Stock Show, we’re organizing a meat-out style event in downtown Denver. We’ll be handing out vegetarian info, free vegetarian food and more. Exact date and time TBA. Please email Lynne if you’d like to help out.

RMAD’s Fifth Annual Dining Out Day at WaterCourse Foods is Monday, January 28. The more you eat, the more WaterCourse donates to RMAD, so visit as many times as your stomach can possibly handle. WaterCourse Foods is located at 837 E. 17 th Ave, Denver. Huge thanks to Dan Landes, Dan Hanley and everyone at the best vegetarian restaurant in Colorado (and beyond!) for making this happen once again.

Joining in on D.O.D. this year are new friends Ahimsa Footwear, located just one-third of a mile from WaterCourse at 1668 Marion St. Ahimsa is the place for 100% cruelty-free shoes and accessories, and they’ll be donating a percentage of the day’s sales to RMAD as well.

See you there!

Volunteer Opportunities

Humane education speakers:
RMAD's Humane Education Speakers Bureau is a network of volunteers who deliver talks to school groups, social clubs, churches and other organizations. Potential speakers will be provided with training (to be offered in both Denver and Boulder). You can fill out this form to get started.

Letter writers: We’ve assembled a team of letter writers to address issues in the local ( Colorado) media. As need s arise, we will send out a form e-mail that includes the pertinent media, names and addresses, tips, background information, etc.—making it as easy as possible for you to lend your voice on behalf of animals.

Check out RMAD’s online volunteer form and let us know about yourself and where your interests lie.
