Board of Directors
David Crawford is co-founder of Rocky Mountain Animal Defense and served as the organization's executive director from 1994 to 2007. David has served on the RMAD board since the organization's inception. In 1993 he shot the country's first video inside an intensive egg facility. In 2001 he played a major role in forming the Prairie Dog Coalition. David was awarded Activist of the Year in 2002 by the Colorado Daily newspaper for his extensive work to protect animals and educate the public about animal issues in the Rockies. David holds a Bachelor of Science degree in mass communication and computer science from the University of Iowa.
Mark Reinhardt
serves as RMAD's chairperson. He has been writing and lecturing on vegetarianism and animal rights
issues for 15 years. As a businessman and attorney he has served
in senior management for a number of high-tech companies, maintained
a successful corporate law practice, and served on the boards of
various nonprofit and for-profit corporations. Mark's popular column,
On or Off the Mark, has been published by the Vegetarian Society
of Colorado for more than a decade, and has been reprinted in numerous
U.S. and international publications. His book, The Perfectly Contented
Meat-Eater's Guide to Vegetarianism, was published by Continuum
in 1998. Mark holds degrees in engineering and law from Duke, Harvard,
and the University of Chicago.
Lynne Sprague
has been involved in social justice movements for the past 15 years.
She spends lots of time working on the broader connections around
violence and the intersections between animal rights, intimate partner
violence, immigrant rights, anti-racism work, poverty, and LGBTQ
communities. Building a vibrant and sustainable anti-violence movement
is central to her work.
Gabriela Sandoval has experience working, contracting, and volunteering for various non-profit organizations including Outward Bound, Environmental Defense, People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals, Sierra Club, Project Safeguard, Political Voices for Animals, Rocky Mountain Children's Law Center and the Office of the Child's Representative. Gabriela is licensed to practice law in Colorado and Virginia and recently ventured on her own to start a law practice focusing on child and animal welfare law. Gabriela holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Communication and Philosophy from Colorado State University and a Juris Doctor from the University of Denver.
Youth Board Member
Torie Salley-Rains is a student at New Vista High School in Boulder, Colorado. Torie has been a solid RMAD volunteer for more than a year, and has spent countless hours working with staff in the RMAD office. Torie's involvement with animal rights began at the age of 8 when she told her parents she did not want to eat animals. Now she loves to make vegan goodies for her friends and family and strives to educate herself and others on the environmental, psychological, health-related and ethical reasons for leading an animal-friendly lifestyle. Torie also enjoys all the wonderful things about being a teenager in Boulder, including rock climbing and being an intern at the Boulder Rock Gym.
